Tel Aviv - An Israeli belly dancer who says Egypt's ambassador to Israel tried to rape her lost a court bid yesterday to sue the diplomat for damages.

Judge Avraham Tal, ruled that Mr Mohammed Bassiouny enjoyed diplomatic immunity and the belly dancer, Ms Shlomit Shalom, could not pursue a civil case against him. Mr Bassiouny has denied the allegations.
