Ten women's groups from Belfast attended a ceremony in the Mansion House, Dublin, yesterday to mark their contribution to the development of peace in Northern Ireland.

The US ambassador, Mrs Jean Kennedy Smith, and the British ambassador, Mrs Veronica Sutherland, were among the guests.

The ceremony, which was held to celebrate the work of women in Belfast, featured edited highlights from a film, Daughters of the Troubles, which will be broadcast on RTE 1 at 9.30 p.m. next Tuesday.

The work of the women's groups in Belfast and the documentary about their lives in Belfast have been funded by the Ireland Fund, which helps provide support for activities that promote peace.
