A number of homes were petrol-bombed in the loyalist Donegall Road area of south Belfast yesterday morning, Gerry Moriarty in Belfast writes.

Police are trying to establish a motive for the attacks at around 12.30 a.m. Only minor scorch damage was caused and there were no injuries.

In Ballymoney, Co Antrim a car showroom and garage was destroyed in a suspected arson attack about midnight on Thursday. In Coleraine, Co Derry, severe smoke damage was caused to warehouse offices when flammable liquid was poured through a window on Thursday night. A home at Milburn housing estate in Coleraine was petrol-bombed, causing minor damage.
