Police have declared a bomb alert in north Belfast this morning to be a hoax.

Police have declared a bomb alert in north Belfast this morning to be a hoax.

Several streets in the New Lodge area were sealed off while police examined an suspicious car.

A  bomb disposal team carried out a number of controlled explosions on the abandoned vehicle parked near the junction between Hartwell Place and Lepper Street.

The operation was carried out shortly before 7 a.m., and the security alert is over.
