Two radio licence applicants have been entered into the second stage of a licensing process run by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI).

The applicants - Red FM South West and Spin - are seek a licence for a youth service in the south west. A final decision will be taken following an oral hearing in July 17th in Limerick, with the decision in early September.

The BCI also confirmed that a licence would be renewed in principle to Flirt FM, which runs a community interest service in Galway city.

The BCI is planning to award a ten-year contract for a student radio service there.
