London - BBC TV yesterday launched its new channel broadcasting live news 24 hours a day

London - BBC TV yesterday launched its new channel broadcasting live news 24 hours a day. BBC News 24 is a licence-funded free cable channel calling on the resources of the largest newsgathering operation in the world. Gavin Esler and Sarah Montague fronted the 5.30 p.m. launch of the channel to 1.6 million British homes fitted with cable television.
