Bausch & Lomb cuts 200 Waterford jobs

Contact lens manufacturer Bausch & Lomb is to lay off 200 temporary workers at its plant in Waterford.

Contact lens manufacturer Bausch & Lomb is to lay off 200 temporary workers at its plant in Waterford.

The company said 400 staff from its global workforce would be made redundant over the next several months to meet "the changing business conditions". The other 200 redundancies will come operations in Scotland and New York.

Bausch & Lomb - which currently employs 1,750 people at its Waterford plant - said it expects to rehire some of these temporary employees in next year.

The Company had added to its temporary workforce to increase production of its PureVisionsilicone contact lens.
