A significant improvement in water quality in the Dalkey and Sandycove areas of south Dublin is promised under a sewerage scheme, costing about Pounds 23 million, which is to be fully operational next year.

Swimmers, sailors and the general public will be delighted with the immediate improvement of water quality, according to Mr Eugene Vesey, of the Parks and Environment Department of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Mr Vesey said discharge of sewage into Bulloch Harbour would be terminated and the waste would be output via Dun Laoghaire and treated at Ringsend.
