Bilbao - Thousands of people staged a mass protest rally in Bilbao, northern Spain, yesterday against the trial of 23 Basque separatist politicians which opens in Madrid today. After the rally youths hurled petrol bombs at police in Bilbao's old city. There were no reports of casualties.
