The former chairman of Century Radio, Mr Oliver Barry, is to return to give evidence to the Flood tribunal next week, writes Paul Cullen.

Mr Barry identified himself to the tribunal earlier this year as the person who gave £35,000 in cash to the former Fianna Fail minister, Mr Ray Burke, in May 1989. He said the money came from income on a Frank Sinatra concert he promoted.

The amount was the biggest contribution Mr Burke received in the run-up to the general election in June 1989.

Two months previously Mr Burke had intervened in a dispute over the fees RTE was demanding from Century for transmitting its signal. The Minister's intervention had the effect of saving Century £200,000.
