A man who robbed taxi-drivers has had the balance of his six-year sentence suspended by Judge Elizabeth Dunne at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

John Gorman (32), Glin Road, Coolock, was originally jailed in February 1997 after he pleaded guilty to a series of such robberies.

Judge Dunne said it was clear Gorman had made progress in custody and had obtained a number of certificates for educational courses. He had also remained drug-free over a long period.
