The Ulster Democratic Party (UDP) leader, Mr Gary McMichael, and its chairman, Mr Joe English, offered to act as bailsmen yesterday for a man accused of blackmail. The judge refused the application by Mr George King (39), of Highcairn Drive, Belfast, who wanted to be best man at his brother's wedding.
