A six-week-old boy has died of meningitis at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children

A six-week-old boy has died of meningitis at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. Meningitis is also suspected in the death of a five-year-old girl in the same hospital, while a two-year-old boy is being treated there for the disease.

Dr Bob Taylor, the hospital's director of paediatric intensive care, said that while parents should remain vigilant for symptoms of the disease, there was no undue cause for alarm.
