Baby dies in Cork road accident

GARDAI in Co Cork have appealed for witnesses to a fatal accident yesterday in which a nine month old baby girl was killed

GARDAI in Co Cork have appealed for witnesses to a fatal accident yesterday in which a nine month old baby girl was killed. The accident occurred on the main Cork to Bandon road at Balliahassig, at about 5 p.m., when two cars were involved in a head on collision.

It is understood that the child, in a car with three women, died at the scene. The driver of the second car, also a woman, sustained injuries and was taken to Cork University Hospital along with two of the passengers in the first car.

The three people did not incur life threatening injuries.

The Garda authorities in Bandon said: "We are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward."
