PRAGUE - Czech chemical firm Synthesia, known as the maker of the plastic explosive Semtex, said yesterday it had been awarded an environmental prize sponsored by a foundation linked to the Prince of Wales.

In a statement the company said Britain's ambassador to Prague, Sir Michael Burton, presented the award from the Czech arm of the Prince of Wales Business Leaders Forum. It honoured a significant reduction of emissions of air pollutants resulting from the installation of cleaning devices at its plant in the central Czech town of Pardubice.
