LONDON - Voting opens today in London and Manchester for Australia's general election - which could be critical to Queen Elizabeth's future as its head of state.

The first of up to 16,000 ballots expected from Britain is due to be cast at 10 a.m. by the High Commissioner, Dr Neal Blewett, at Australia House in London's Strand.
