Sydney - The stevedoring company at the centre of a bitter dispute with Australia's dock workers yesterday offered a deal ahead of union meetings planned for today.

The Patrick stevedoring firm, which dismissed 1,400 Maritime Union of Australia workers on April 7th and sparked month-long picket lines at ports, said it would re-hire 650 workers in permanent positions and up to 200 in contracted services.
