Four armed and masked men attempted to rob an ATM at the Texaco Garage on the Naas Road in Rathcoole, Co Dublin yesterday evening.

The raiders entered the garage at around 5:45 p.m. wearing balaclavas and dark clothing. One of the men was armed with a shotgun but no shots were fired.

The raiders attempted to pull the ATM machine from the wall by tying a chain around it and fastening the chain to a jeep. Their attempts were unsuccessful and the men left in a black Mitsubishi Pajero.

Gardaí later found the jeep burnt out and it is believed the men transferred to a white Mitsubishi Colt. All four are described as speaking with Dublin accents.

Anyone with information are asked to contact the gardaí at Rathcoole.
