THE International Atomic Agency (IAA) should be abolished, according to the executive director of the Chernobyl Children's Project, Ms Adi Roche.

Speaking at the Sellafield conference, Ms Roche said the agency had tried to cover up the scale of the disaster at Chernobyl in its report into the nuclear explosion which took place in April 1986.

She said world governments should encourage the establishment of an international renewable energy agency, which would accept that "no level of radioactivity is safe".
