A young Romanian man "seeking political asylum in Ireland appeared in Court yesterday on fraud charges.

Drogheda District Court heard that Boston Basile, with an address at Boniface House Hostel, Kilmainham, Dublin, forged visa credit card slips in the name of Ann Ashley O'Donnell last Wednesday.

The charges related to fraudulent purchases totalling £148. He was remanded in custody for a week with consent to bail.
