A Turkish asylum seeker accused of breaking into the Department of Justice and threatening a porter with a knife was returned for trial yesterday.

Mr Haci Sari (23), of North Circular Road, Dublin, appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday charged with causing harm to Francis McBride at St Stephen's Green on November 13th. He is further charged with having a knife, assaulting Sgt Denis Palmer, Garda Derek Kelly and Garda Kevin Keane, and with criminal damage to windows.

Judge William Hamill remanded the defendant in custody to appear before the present sittings of the Circuit Criminal Court on the charges and to appear again in the District Court on February 27th on charges of trespass and failing to leave.
