YEOVIL - British police believe a firebomb attack early day on the car of the Lib Democrat leader, Mr Ashdown, was part of a campaign by local criminals in this Somerset town.

The arson attack - in which his car was burnt out, but no one was injured - was believed be linked to his high profile against a gang of responsible for a spate of attacks in the town.
