Some 300 of the 315 workforce at the Asahi plant in Killala, Co Mayo, will be offered jobs in a restructuring, the managing director, Mr Michael Honan, confirmed yesterday.
Mr Honan said that through a series of cost reduction measures and greater efficiency he was confident for the future viability of the company and hoped that 15 workers would accept voluntary redundancy. The proposals are being considered by the workers.
