Arson suspected in Co Derry fire

A house fire in which two people were injured this morning was an attempt to endanger life, the PSNI said.

A house fire in which two people were injured this morning was an attempt to endanger life, the PSNI said.

The suspicious blaze was reported at around 2.45am in Ballyclose Street, Limavady, Co Derry after three bins were set alight in a covered walkway near flats.

Sveral residents were evacuated and two treated in hospital for smoke inhalation. Smoke damage was caused to several flats.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "Police are treated this fire as arson with attempt to endanger life." She added that detectives were examining CCTV footage.
