A VERY pregnant and stunning looking Alison Doody and Gavin O'Reilly sensibly avoided the opening night crush and dropped in to see Peter Usintov's sell out show in the Gaiety on Wednesday night. Their baby is due later this month and the first time parents would do well to learn from this week's experience of Colin Gordon, an MD at Cantrell & Cochrane, and his wife Sue Bunworth.

The couple, based in Clonmel, were a little bit too relaxed in setting, out for Dublin, where Sue was due to give birth to their third child in Holles Street. The baby had different ideas, however. She rushed into the world in their car on the side of the road in Athy with Colin, car phone in hand, on the line to Holles Street relaying the instructions he was being given (er, eat your heart out).

Mother and baby (named Nicola) are doing well, as is the impromtu midwife.
