Three coffee-jar bombs were defused by army experts in Northern Ireland last night.

Three coffee-jar bombs were defused by army experts in Northern Ireland last night.

The devices, primed and ready for use, were discovered under a hedge near a derelict school at Randalstown, Co Antrim.

An army bomb disposal expert carried out three controlled explosions before the devices were taken away for examination.

There were no arrests and searches of the area were to be continued, an RUC spokesman, said.
