British army bomb disposal experts were called to the pub on the York Road at around 2.30 a.m. after a telephone warning was received.

During the bomb scare, York Road and part of the Limestone Road up to the junction with North Queen Street were sealed off. A number of items were removed from the scene for further forensic examination.
