Mexico City - Arms including army-issue weapons similar to those used in the massacre of 45 Maya Indians in Chiapas state were found in the home of a villager held in connection with the crime, federal prosecutors said yesterday.

The arms, including 22-calibre rifles, a 16-calibre shotgun, a 22-calibre revolver and ammunition were found in front of the Quextic home of Mr Manuel Vazquez Ruiz, detained in connection with the bloodbath.

Forty-five Maya men, women and children were murdered in Acteal, Chenalho, in Chiapas on December 22nd.
