A 52-year-old man charged with the importation of arms was refused bail when he appeared before Kells District Court yesterday.
Mr Rory McDonnell, of Riverstown, Killucan, Co Westmeath, is charged that on dates unknown between June 1st and July 26th, 1999, he conspired with persons unknown to import firearms and ammunition into the State.
The case was adjourned and he was remanded in custody to Kells District Court next Friday.
