A shop worker was tied up and another was hit over the head during a robbery in Glasnevin last night.

Three men went into the Slaney Road Bargaintown outlet through a rear storeroom at about 9pm. Two of the men were carrying handguns.

One member of staff was confronted and tied up, and another was hit over the head with a piece of wood while the raiders took a small amount of cash.

The thieves were seen jumping over a wall onto Ballyboggin Road, but they were not found during a Garda search that included the Garda helicopter.

The injured member of staff was treated at the Mater hospital for a minor injury.
