Gardaí are investigating an armed raid on a bank in Co Cavan this morning in which three men escaped with a quantity of cash.

A Garda spokeswoman said three armed men entered a bank in Ballyjamesduff at around 9.30am and demanded money, which was handed over to them.

Gardaí could not immediately say how much cash was stolen.

It is believed they used a motorbike to escaped; gardaí are investigating how many of the men were on the bike.

"No shots were fired and no one was injured," the spokeswoman said.

It is not yet clear whether all of the men were armed with guns or whether other weapons were involved.
