Armagh City Council yesterday elected a UUP mayor and an SDLP deputy. The new mayor is Mr James Clayton (68) a retired service administrator.
He defeated Sinn Fein's Noel Sheridan by 12 votes to three. The SDLP's Mr Joe McGleenan will be his deputy.
