BUENOS AIRES - Brief weekend rains helped to combat ferocious forest fires in national parks in Argentina's Patagonian mountains but were not enough to extinguish the two week old blazes.

As 60 Chilean firefighters arrived to help on Sunday residents of Bariloche, a ski resort threatened by the fires, danced in the rain hoping it would extinguish the two week blaze that has burnt 16,400 acres of land.
