The Minister for Health, Mr Noonan, has announced 10 appointments to the National Cancer Registry Board with effect from last Friday. The board is responsible for the collection, analysis and promotion of data relating to cancer in Ireland. Those appointed are: Dr Elizabeth Keane (chairwoman), Director of Public Health, Southern Health Board; Dr Niall Tierney, CEO, Department of Health; Mr Fergal Lynch, Department of Health; Professor Bernadette Herity, Professor of Public Health Medicine and Epidemiology; Prof Aine Hyland, UCC; Prof Niall O'Higgins, consultant surgeon; Dr James J. Fennelly, consultant oncologist; Dr Kieran Sheahan, consultant his pathologist; Dr Martin Rouse; and Prof Alun Evans, Queen's University, Belfast.
