Appeal for witnesses after NI attack

A man was set upon by a masked gang in a paramilitary-style attack, police in the North said today.

A man was set upon by a masked gang in a paramilitary-style attack, police in the North said today.

The assault happened in Mountview Street area in north Belfast at about 9.30pm yesterday.

The man (19) was attacked in an alleyway by men armed with bats and bars. He suffered injuries to his head and back.

He was taken to hospital but the Police Service of Northern Ireland said his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses.
