Gardaí in Dublin have issued a public appeal for information following a hit-and-run on St Patrick's Day which has left a 17-year-old in a serious condition in hospital.

The young man sustained the injuries when he was struck by a blue Vauxhall Vectra Estate at around 11.30pm on the Ninth Lock Road, Clondalkin.

"The driver failed to remain at the scene of the collision and continued driving in the direction of Neilstown and Wheatfield, a Garda spokesperson said. Witnesses or those who have any relevant information are asked to contact Clondalkin gardai at 6667693.
