LONDON - A major anti-guns campaign set up in the wake of last year's Dunblane massacre of 16 schoolchildren was wound up yesterday after successfully lobbying for a ban on most handguns in Britain.

But Ms Ann Pearston, co-ordinator of the Snowdrop campaign, said that despite the campaigners' success, it was still possible someone could try to imitate Thomas Hamilton, who killed the children and their teacher in the Scottish town of Dunblane in March 1996.
