A campaign to eradicate ageism from the Northern Ireland workplace was launched by the British government this morning.
Speaking at the launch Northern Ireland's Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Mr Ian Pearson said it was "a sad fact that workplace ageism currently affects both sexes and all backgrounds, whether people are made to feel over the hill or too young to count."
The campaign will attempt to change attitudes by eradicating outdated stereotypes and encouraging employers to adopt good age practices for the benefit of both their businesses and individuals.
A recent report from the Employer's Forum on Age said it was "too costly to ignore" and put the annual cost to the United Kingdom at £31 billion.
