Compassion in World Farming, the animal welfare group, has sent a copy of its Freedom for Irish Sows video to all main supermarket chains in Ireland and Britain. The group has asked the supermarket chains to follow Tesco's example and refuse to stock pork products from pig units using the stall or tether systems. It says 85 per cent of Irish breeding sows are tethered.
