Tributes have been paid to a leading anglers' representative, Mr Jim Maxwell, who died early this week in Leap, Co Cork, after a long illness. Mr Maxwell was president of the Federation of Irish Salmon and Sea Trout Anglers, which represents more than 50 angling associations.

Mr Maxwell is survived by his wife, Joan and two daughters. His funeral takes place today in St Fachtna's Church, Rosscarbery, Co Cork, at 3 p.m., with burial afterwards in Glandore.
