Parents' representatives in vocational schools have expressed their "deep anger" at the prospect of one day strikes by members of the Teachers Union of Ireland from next month.

Parents were "fed up" with the threat of strikes in schools, said Mr Nick Killian, spokesman for the National Parents' Council. He called on the Minister for Education to intervene in the dispute, which is over the breakdown of talks on a new promotions procedures for vocational teachers.
