The former Taoiseach, Mr John Bruton, and the former Tanaiste, Mr Dick Spring, are among 23 Oireachtas members who have written to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Andrews, asking him to cosponsor a motion on Algeria at the UN General Assembly next week.

The motion calls for an independent investigation into human rights abuses in Algeria. Other signatories include four former ministers, Mr Alan Dukes, Mr Michael D. Higgins, Mr Enda Kenny and Mr Proinsias De Rossa.
