An Post has unveiled a stamp commemorating the centenary of the national anthem.

The 55c stamp, which was designed by Ger Garland, features a girls' choir from Coláiste Íosagáin in Stillorgan, Co Dublin, alongside the national flag.

It celebrates the writing of Amhrán na bhFiann, originally written in English as the Soldier's Songby Peadar Kearney in 1907.

The anthem was later translated into Irish by Liam Ó Rinn and was formally adopted as the national anthem in 1926, replacing "God Save Ireland".
