Geneva - Amnesty International yesterday accused UN envoys to Algeria of doing a "whitewash" job over human rights violations in that country where massacres of civilians are continuing.

Amnesty was reacting to the conclusions of a UN fact-finding mission constituted by the UN Secretary General, Mr Kofi Annan, and led by former Portuguese president, Mr Mario Soares.
