A joint Garda/Army search of the Louth coastline yesterday recovered 40 rounds of high calibre live ammunition in one of two barrels which had been buried 30 feet deep in sand. The other barrel was empty.

Gardai believe they were hidden by the IRA some time ago. The searches of the seashore near Rathcor, Riverstown, Dundalk, are expected to continue.
