Gardaí in Limerick recovered a small amount of ammunition while investigating reports of a shooting.
The unconfirmed incident happened at around 3pm in the O'Malley Park area which has been racked with drug-gang trouble for many years.
"The reports indicated that shots were fired by the occupants of one car towards another car," a Garda spokesman said.
"Gardaí units responded and conducted searches of the area but there was no sign of the vehicles involved.
"In a follow up search at a house in the area a small quantity of ammunition was seized," the spokesman added. There were no arrests and investigations are ongoing.
