The Democratic Left TD, Ms Kathleen Lynch, has called for the amendment of the 1993 Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act, following the death of a Sri Lankan woman, Ms Brenda Pereira, last week in Dublin.
Under the amendment, prostitutes reporting an assault or other crime committed against them should be granted immunity from prosecution, Ms Lynch said yesterday.
