Ambulance personnel held an unofficial stoppage in Limerick yesterday affecting services in the city area.
A SIPTU official said the dispute came about as a result of awarding a contract to a private contractor to take wheelchair-bound patients to clinics and hospitals in Dublin.
The Mid-Western Health Board condemned the action , describing it as "grossly irresponsible and was putting patients at risk".
