Alliance leader David Ford has announced that former SDLP councillor Oran Keenan has joined the party. Mr Keenan is a former mayor of Antrim who has sat as an Independent on the Antrim Borough Council since he left the SDLP four years ago.
Mr Ford said he was “delighted” to welcome Mr Keenan to the Alliance Party.
“He has taken a particular interest in environmental matters and he shares our values.”
Mr Keenan said: “Northern Ireland must shed its tribal colours and work towards tackling the real issues.”
He said this was an exciting period for the Alliance Party.
