An alleged stalker used a concrete block to break into the bedroom of a woman he was following, a court heard yesterday. Mr Thomas Quirke (31), of no fixed abode, appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday accused of causing a woman harassment between September 1st and March 3rd last.

Garda Sgt Colm McConnell said the defendant had been continually stalking a woman around the streets of Dublin after she left work.

Judge Miriam Malone said she was refusing District Court jurisdiction in the case and remanded the defendant in custody to April 29th for service of a book of evidence.
